Last Night at BSM

May 11, 2017

Rev. Samantha Evans preaches on Isaiah 58, and the call to the Broad Street Ministry community (and the rest of us) to be the kind of people who fast from oppression, greed, and injustice. The fast that God commands the Judeans to take on is not one of self-righteousness or piety, but one that is a commitment to peace and seeking the welfare of all community members.

Listen here.

Prayers of the gathered community:

Dear Lord, Thank you for your blessings and greatness. I pray for friends, family, and community in need and brokenness and help them find their way to you. I pray for conviction and discernment for your plan for me. Give me courage and strength to follow you. Amen.

Please pray for **** as she interviews and continues in the process for a job with ****. Give her favor, give her hope, help her to see some light in her life. She has a Skype interview on ****. She is nervous. Pray for her peace and clarity. May she be blessed with CONFIDENCE!

May God keep you all in hands.

Please pray for me to get this job I’m applying for where I’ll be able to use my time and talents to help others. Thank you.

Please pray for me and my friend **** as we travel to **** for 2 weeks! Prayers for my grandma as she ages and her memory fades. Please pray for ****’s uncles who are dealing with serious health issues.

For a lost friend.

Please either answer my prayers or open my eyes to see and appreciate your presence, guidance and provision. I can’t write the same requests again and again. Status quo circumstances continue to be very hard on many fronts, though blessings are also in evidence. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Thank you for still being here even thought I’ve been away so long.

Thank you for this celebration of life. I needed this today. Blessings and gratitude for the life of ****, who passed away in his chapel at **** two Tuesdays ago on the ****. Prayers for his family, who is our family, and for ****. Help us field and feel this void of pastor, teacher, mentor, challenger, guide, father. Push.

Safe travels for my husband who will be away for 8 days overseas. Prayers that the US will get active and vote to save healthcare for many.

Thank you Lord thank you Jesus

Prayers for **** 4 his health, body and spirit as he goes through the special studies ordered by his physicians to get to the root of his problems

Thank you Lord thank you Jesus

Please be with me as I continue to job search. Please be with my other friends as they continue to look for employment especially  **** and ****.

God,

Thank you for your faithfulness. I love you, Amen.

Thank you God

I am SO thankful for this place, this community, who has blessed me dearly. I ask for prayer as I try to listen to God’s guidance in my everyday life.

Dear God- I don’t feel ready, really, for much this week. I feel off center and far from my call. Show me your face this week. I love you. Amen.

Please pray over the prayers we prayed today at ****. Please pray over all the prayer requests etc. of the **** community (past, present, future, etc). May we pray for them all in advance according to Ephesians 3:20-21. Please pray Philippians 1:6 over the **** community as well as 2 Timothy 4:17-18. Please pray Job 22:27-28 and Hebrews 6:17-20 and Jonah 2:9 and Numbers 23:19 and 1 Samuel 15:29 over me.
