Last Night at BSM

February 12, 2018

Last night at BSM, Rev. Raymond Bonwell III led us in a meditation on 2 Kings 2:1-12 about Elijah ascending to heaven; focusing on the future and the destination.  How might we also “go” into the future?

Listen to the sermon here.

The community lifted these prayers to God:

I pray that this week I will not feel so alone and bereft of hope.

Please pray for: Me–as I learn to love and accept myself better, ****–as she finds her way and creates her new life in ****, ****–my cousin and her mother as they mourn the loss of their mom.

Please join me in giving thanks – **** was offered the job he applied for and will start in a few weeks!  This has been a long time coming.  Thank you, God.  I ask God to be with those still waiting on their change to come.

Prayers for the peace of the city, and that people are not alone.

Thank you, Lord.  Thank you, Jesus.  Prayers for **** who has not seen her grandson in over a year.  **** is quite depressed over this.  Thank you, Lord.  Thank you, Jesus.  Amen.

Dear God, keep me on your path, which I trust.  Give comfort and peace to my sweet companion.  Help me take steps closer to being who you intend.  Hold **** in the palm of your hand when things are hard.  Make me a comfort to your people.  Amen.

I lift up the **** as they search for a new spiritual leader to come to this place.  I ask God to send them quickly.

Dear God, thank you for the healing especially with and through ****.  Thank you for the expanded tribe.  Please, help us accept and cherish the love we are offered.

Thanks be to God for new love and beautiful distractions.

Dear God, show me the way to discern.  I’m afraid to risk saying yes to security and comfort, afraid it means letting go of what I’ve been wanting.  Am I leaving, staying, arriving?  All three?  I love you.  Amen.

I give thanks for the spirit of this city and its people, and I pray that we can continue to work together and support and care for each other.

Please be with **** and her family.  Please help me with my anxiety and help me find ways to navigate my relationship with my brother.  Please help me find my way in my career.
