Last Night at BSM

Last night, Rev. Andy Greenhow brought us a word from Genesis 1:1-2:4, titled Stewardship I: Creation and Dominion.

This was the first sermon in our stewardship series where we are seeking to respond generously to God’s generosity. This week we looked at the creation account from Genesis, where we come across the word “dominion.” “Dominion” is used throughout the Old Testament in three ways. First, God has dominion over us. Second, humanity has dominion over something under the authority of God. Third, when the people of God were disobedient, God would send a foreign power to have dominion over the people of God. God creating the world out of nothing is a generous act. God did not have to create the world, but God did and God has given us a part to play.  We have dominion under God’s authority in creation. We enact our dominion first when we use our resources to create the world that God wants to see. Second we enact our dominion when we create relationships. I’m feeling disturbed at my core—I’m feeling astoundingly depressed these days. Please pray that God’s peace may fill me, fully, internally!

 

Please pray for my sister, ******* for God to intervene for her, to open some small space for hope, for her to feel God’s hope. Pray for God to relieve her trauma and sadness and to allow her to feel some love and joy.

 

Praying for emotional healing.

 

Dear God, please make me an instrument for your work. I love you. *****

 

I ask for prayer for insight into how to use my abundant resources better, in ways that are creative, relational and abundantly generous. I also pray for my dad as he looks for a job that is more meaningful and fitting for his skills and passions.

 

Pray that our brother sand sisters coming to this country be welcomed with open arms and treated compassionately.

 

Lord, I thank you for your gifts, for your peace, your love, your grace. Help me to rely more on you in all I do; to manifest your peace, love, and grace in all I do. I pray for your peace, wisdom, discovery in this world. Amen.

 

It is good to return after a while. I pray for time, dedication and the desire to commit to attend regularly.

 

Dear God, As the days and nights get colder please be with our guests and friends who don’t have a warm home to go to at night. Please continue to guide us at BSM as we try to be a warm home if only for the meal we share each day. Amen.

 

For my family—some in financial hardship, some in isolation, some trying to find their way.

 

Thank you, thank you, thank you for these beautiful moments and a little scrap of ability to take them as they are in gratitude. Amen.

 

Dear Lord, Grant me the strength to move through the obstacles in my path. Help me to create something good with the talents you have blessed me with. Thank you for all you have given me.

 

God, thank you for this day. These people. Your Spirit is alive here, and for that, I am so grateful. Inspire me. Use me.

 

Dear God, I pray for an open heart. Open my heart when I am being judgmental or fearful. Help me to see the essence of you in each person I meet and in the relationships that form around me. Help me know love, not fear, not blame. Amen.

 

God I pray for your grace to be strong and kind mother to my children. I need patience, faith to show the kindness I yearn to each day. And love more.
