Last Night at BSM

August 21, 2016

Last night, Rev. Andy Greenhow brought a word from Luke 13:10-17, where Jesus heals a woman on the sabbath. In this text, the people are amazed at this mighty act, and the religious leaders become indignant. Andy encouraged us to consider how Jesus is bringing our attention to people who have become “part of the wallpaper” and showing us how the law and the sabbath are to be used to free us from bondage. Listen to it here.

The community offered the following prayers:

Prayers of thanksgiving for improving health

Prayers for courage and faith to make it through this financially trying time for me

Thanksgiving for my grandson **** who has made it through basic training. May he receive blessings, health, strength, and guidance going forward.

Please pray for those who have suffered loss this last week. Please pray for **** as she enters a new year of life. May she grow in wisdom and favor of God each and every day. May she know she is loved.

Prayer for peace of mind and serenity. Thank you very much.

Don’t get a chance to pray as much as I should so I’m asking that this community prays for my good friend and co-worker ****.

For ****—for some light, joy in this darkness. For those around her, that the Lord guides us in caring for her. Help us to pay attention.

May God bless the Buard St MTR.

I am grateful that my father-in-law, ****, has agreed to move to an assisted living facility in ****. I am also grateful for the news of the engagement of my niece, ****, to her college sweetheart.

I pray that what we learn here at BSM will help us at Anaheim First Pres

Prayers for healing of my husband who broke his collarbone and my daughter as she begins her sophomore year of college.

God, I’m grateful for the life of ****’s grandmother and for his strength to share her with us. Amen.

For a continued attitude of openness to other cultures and a respect and care for those coming from a place of trauma; and to find a place of welcome and acceptance for myself.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for carrying my father safely through his radiation, and please be with him as he waits to see if it was successful. Thank you for sending my mother a possible cure for her foot ailment. Please grant strength to **** and I as we enter our busy months, and help us to grow and strengthen our love. Thank you so much for all these blessings you have given me. Hallelujah and Amen.

Pray for the congregation of First Pres. Anaheim as they seek the Spirit’s future!

I pray to remember that everyone I pass in the street—whether they’re asking for money or cat-calling—is a son or daughter of God. To treat them as such. For M. to know this is true of himself. For safe pregnancies for S. and S. For B’s job. For ****’s family. For **** and ****’s sisters. For BSM’s new ED. For all BSM staff. For Andy and his family.

Lord, please don’t let me get a migraine. Please help me settle into a new home. Thank you for calling me to do your work. Amen.

Prayer for my daughter. She is not returning to school this fall is going off track.

God, I’m filled with so many emotions—so much is going on in my life—please be with me and my son—my husband—my mother and family. Amen.

Hoping for minimal drama in the week to come. Feeling relieved but now the hard stuff.

I thank God for the things I have found this week. I thank God for my bro ****’s surgery and I pray for his recovery. I thank God for my family, blood and found, and I pray for their health and prosperity. Amen.
