This October in BSM’s Worshiping Community

September 30, 2015

Dear Friends,

September was a thrilling month… and we’re glad we survived it! We started a new program year by welcoming two brand new Pastoral Associates, Cat Tobey and Julia Watkins, and welcomed back Sammie Evans. Read more about them here. Plus, we welcomed the Vicar of Rome, Pope Francis. Thanks to all of you who joined us for a beautiful service of prayer stations and spiritual practices on Pope Sunday.

It’ll be hard to top September but we have a feeling October is going to be even better. First, we are doing our first ever financial stewardship campaign. This sounds scary but we promise it’s really exciting. Andy will be preaching every Sunday on God’s generosity throughout history and the opportunities we have to respond to that generosity with some of our own. Worship services, small groups after worship, and Wednesday evening programming – all of it focused on God’s generosity.

The culmination of the campaign will be dedicating 2016 financial pledge cards in worship on November 1. These pledge cards are a way of committing to participate with our resources in community. We’ll all be filling one out and hope you will, too. Andy is hoping to meet with as many of you as he can during this month to answer any questions you have and to discuss this important topic.

Finally, we’re so excited about our new Wednesday night spiritual practices and Christian education programming. Kate Sheehan Roach and Julia Watkins have been guiding people in Centering Prayer, Cat Tobey has been teaching about Christianity through the lens of an upbringing in Mormon-dominated Utah, and John Francis has been doing singing lessons. Check out the schedule through October and see you on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7:15pm.

We’re keeping you all our my prayers and we’re grateful for all you do to make BSM such a wonderful community. See you Sunday!

Gratefully,

The Faith and Worship Team at BSM
