Sermon Title: Roam
Text: Luke 4:21-30

Sitting room: Chairs for Sanctuary NEEDED!

Metal chairs are not part of the vision for our sanctuary . They speak of agencies, formality and uniformity. That's not Broad Street Ministry. After removing the pews to make our sanctuary space even more flexible than it was, the need for wooden chairs is greater than ever as we welcome more and more people to our worship services and meals.

We're asking everyone to bring in a wooden chair, new or old, and place it in the sanctuary next time you are here. Each chair will add a fresh new place of welcome to the community. All we ask is that they be sturdy.
Bring in one or bring in 20! Just bring 'em in!! The more diverse the better.
Like BSM.

Help sustain this creative and life-giving ministry by donating some art supplies from our wish-list:

  • acrylic paint
  • scrapbooking papers, stickers, decorative scissors, etc

Bring what you can to the office during the work week, or on Sunday nights.

One Book, One Philadelphia 2010:
Persepolis: Book Group @ BSM
Wednesday nights, 6:30 -7:30 p.m.
January 20th, 27th, and February 3rd, 10th

Join us and the city of Philadelphia as we participate in the Free Library’s annual One Book, One Philadelphia program this winter by hosting a series of enlivening discussions surrounding The Complete Persepolis, a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi. Described by the Free Library as a:  “poignant, humorous, and heartbreaking memoir of growing up in Iran during a time of political revolution and repression,” Persepolis lifts up the clash of culture, faith, and politics in a dramatic way. Persepolis is an award winning graphic novel, and the recent film version has received international attention.

Come explore the story of one woman as she searches for meaning and identity in the confusion of war and religion, and discuss your reactions to it with other members of our diverse community.
