LAST MONDAYS: What a Show!
BSM, in collaboration with Hybridge Arts Collective, hosted the first of hopefully many Last Monday gatherings on June 28th.
Art-enthusiasts from all over Philly enjoyed a yummy dinner, each others' company at round tables, and four diverse pieces of performance art, all for just $5!
We can't wait for YOU to join us this month on Monday, July 26th at 7 p.m. for a new round of performances, most of them Live Arts Festival sneak peeks! $5 at the door.
Questions? Want to get involved?
Check out a special review by Becca Blake on the blog by clicking here.

SENIOR BOXES UPDATE:
from our very own Shawn Hyska
On Tuesday, June 17th, 20 of our neighbors came and received supplemental food boxes from the federal government through our partnership with Philabundance. In total almost 700 lbs of food were distributed in less than one hour. For July we are anticipating the number of boxes distributed to double.
Working to help people not just "get by" but to flourish and live an abundant life is something we deeply care about here at BSM. This is one very important way to do that.
To qualify for the program, people must be a resident of Philadelphia, at least 60 years of age, and earn income at or below 130% of the Federal Poverty Income guidelines.
So, spread the word!
If you have questions about senior boxes, know someone who meets the qualifications above, or want to sign up,

We Need YOUR Help!
Breaking Bread is in urgent need of several kinds of supplies...and there's an easy way to help...
You can always donate art supplies, NEW womens' underwear in larger sizes and NEW or GENTLY USED mens' jeans and t-shirts by dropping them off during office hours or on Wednesday and Sunday nights.
But now there is an even EASIER way to help us supplement the services provided at Breaking Bread:
Donate a gift certificate from Target or Macy's and program leaders will be able to go out and get exactly what is needed.

CHECKING IN...
with the Youth Initiative!
The Youth Initiative, one of many thriving programs at BSM, hosts youth groups from around the world on-site at BSM for one week "mission trips", and is now in its third year of operation.
Visiting youth work with a variety of organizations, some directly social service related, some educational programs, and some organizations concerned with ecological responsibility and urban living.
Youth also go on a different tours of Philadelphia, including a walking tour led by Andre Cureton, and a "reality tour" in North Philly in conjunction with the Kensington Welfare Rights Union.
After a day of service projects and educational experiences, youth come home to BSM to debrief the day and participate in evening worship.
More than just a mission trip, the Youth Initiative provides youth with an immersion experience of life and ministry in an urban setting.
