Envisioning the Kingdom of God in Philadelphia
The Youth Initiative and Alternative Breaks at Broad Street Ministry is so much more than your average mission trip or service-learning experience! We provide opportunities for youth and young adults to engage their faith in educational, motivating, and provocative service experiences related to prevalent social justice issues. Our goal is to spark curiosity, to identify ways in which Holy Scripture calls for justice and love for all, and to stimulate conversations for lifelong service and discipleship.
Are you a past participant of the Youth Initiative?? Whether you attended the Youth Initiative anytime in the past as a youth or as an adult, we’d love to hear from you and see how your time with us has had a lasting impact. Please consider completing and sending us a Testimonial, found here.

Summer Youth Initiative
Summer 2016 is here and in full swing! And, we’re already looking ahead to Summer 2017. Registration for Summer 2017 is open, so please visit our Summer page for information on what to expect during a summer experience with the Youth Initiative and for information on how to register!
Youth Initiative Day Immersions
Historically, the Youth Initiative has hosted weekend service retreats in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. We have officially discontinued our overnight weekend experiences, and have developed brand new Day Immersions! All groups of 20 or fewer people are welcome to schedule a Day Immersion in order to have a relational experience at BSM and then dig deeper into issues of deep poverty and justice. Visit our Day Immersions page for more information on what to expect and how to register!
Alternative Breaks are a great opportunity for past and new Youth Initiative participants to be involved throughout the year, for campus ministry groups to engage in social justice service learning, or for social justice minded students of any age to obtain hands-on experience with poverty issues outside of the classroom. Visit our Alternative Breaks page for more information!
