A Time to Lay Fallow

March 7, 2016

Rev. Andy Greenhow brings us a word from Leviticus 25:1-12, entitled, “A Time to Lay Fallow.” This is the fourth Sunday in our Lenten series exploring agrarian rhythms and the life of faith. In this passage from Leviticus the people of God are told that they are to celebrate a year of Sabbath for the earth. This allows the earth to heal and for nutrients to return to the soil. But it was also a time for healing society, where debts would be forgiven and liberty would be proclaimed. It gives the earth and our lives a rest from overproduction and overconsumption. Let us take a break from a life of overproduction and overconsumption.
