BSM Gets Moving

On Friday afternoons Jon Martin from the Pennsylvania Ballet comes to BSM to guide us in a relaxing Movement Workshop. Inspired by Jon’s talent and training in dance we work on stretching, breathing, and gentle exercise to music. Since Jon began the workshop this fall we have seen our attendance numbers increase, and our guests’ talents blossom (and staff who participate have found tremendous benefits as well). Perhaps the best sign of all, a guest said recently that they are ready to perform what they’ve learned!

As our guests have become more comfortable, other talents have emerged. Last week a guest felt inspired to share an original poem with dance elements. Then another guest was inspired to contribute a favorite flow in Tai Chi. This blending of art forms and Jon’s thoughtful guidance have made the workshop exactly what we needed.

For our last workshop of the year 2016, we discussed resolutions and hopes for the New Year. Guests and staff shared hopes for self-improvement, better self-care, investing in relationships, and continued dedication to healthy physical activity. We also look forward to further development of artistic talents and we hope to continue sharing them with others in 2017.
