Dîner en Blanc and the Keepers

September 11, 2018

Dîner en Blanc

Dîner en Blanc is a chic worldwide event in which people gather in a public space dressed in white and set up a temporary dining area to enjoy quality food and wine. This summer Diner en Blanc Philadelphia partnered with BSM so that they could help us continue to provide hope to our guests.

In June a raffle was held at the Diner en Blanc preview party and guests had a chance to win a ticket to Diner en Blanc. In July, 3 tickets to Diner en Blanc were auctioned off online and Diner en Blanc supporters had an opportunity to bid on tickets with 100% of the proceeds supporting BSM. In August during the actual event, Diner en Blanc hosted an additional auction benefiting BSM. In total, Diner en Blanc raised $5,500 which can help us provide access to mail services for over 3,000 guests.

The Keepers

After visiting BSM and learning about our mission, The Leadership Philadelphia class of 2018 decided to help us serve up a slice of radical hospitality by fundraising for us. The Keepers have set an ambitious goal of raising $40,000 and are working towards their goal by running their own online fundraising campaign, hosting fundraising events, and collecting individual donations.

So far The Keepers have had great success! Their online fundraising campaign has almost raised enough to sponsor a Breaking Bread meal and last month they hosted a happy hour at Royal Boucherie that attracted over 60 people. Including individual donations, the Keepers have raised just under $9,000 so far, which can help us provide photo identification to hundreds of our café guests this winter who experience difficulty accessing shelter year round without identification.
