BSM Partners With Local Organizations

January 11, 2016

At BSM, every day we receive gifts. Each week our big red doors host the gift of our guest’s stories, the gift of delicious smells wafting through the building and the gift of our colleagues and volunteers, who feel more like family than coworkers. This holiday season IMG_1478we were gifted with some exceptionally unique partners that spent their Decembers creating events that raised funds for our Hospitality Collaborative. We believe that everyone has exceptional talent waiting to be used. Our friends at Galbraith & Paul used their tremendous talent to create beautiful textiles and designs to showcase at their sample sale benefitting BSM. Through their $6,000 donation they will continue to bring beauty to the world by supporting our Breaking Bread meal that also provides a Therapeutic Arts table. Our friends from the Waldorf School joined in by using their hands to create a gorgeous quilt to be raffled using elegant scrap fabric from Galbraith & Paul designs. We LOVE it when friends use things that are unique and special to them to be a part of our guest’s lives. Speaking of unique, Dig Yoga (now Three Queens Yoga) provided a $1,500 donation via their “Mariel’s Favorite Things Solstice Yoga Celebration”. How lucky were we to be one of Mariel’s favorite things?! This gift required almost zero BSM resources and was filled with community! We are SO grateful for these new friends and their investment in our neighbors.

It’s partnerships with the private sector like these that breathe new life into our efforts to serve the vulnerable of Philadelphia and provide sustainable sources of funding.

three queensThis track record of successful partnerships has led to the creation of BSM’s Hospitality & Corporate Council (HCC) in 2016. This body is a group of select organizations with a vested interest in being solution driven corporate citizens tackling hunger, poverty, and homelessness. While the HCC is still recruiting we are proud to welcome: Think Brownstone, The Logan, Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, Rosa’s Pizza, Sofitel, Garces Group, Armor, Benjamin Foods, Keller Williams and Gulph Creek Development. If there is an organization you’d like to nominate please contact Jessica Paschke at jessica@broadstreetministry.org.
