Last Night at BSM

August 14, 2017

Last Night, Sammie Evans preached to us from Matthew 14:22-33. She spoke to us about power and justice in the face of oppression and hatred.

Please pray for my grandparents. All of their healths are beginning to deteriorate. Additionally please keep my parents in your prayers as it is taking an especially hard toll on them.

Thank you God for blessing **** with a new job, I ask that it brings him joy! Continue to show him your purpose for him and guide us in our relationship!

Lord, give my soul rest in your embrace.

Thank you so much for my mother, who knows me so well and who I rely on so much to communicate your truth and peace. Ease my worry, especially about such inconsequential things. Open my heart to that which really matters.

Lord, I am feeling **** departure more than I expected today. Thank you for him and his gifts he’s shared at BSM. Bless him and ****. We will miss him.

Please pray for my friends **** and **** as they settle into Philly and await a transplant. For my neighbors **** and **** as they struggle with depression and finding new jobs.

For my trip to Seattle to spent time with my parents.

Anger and fear for the organized hatred in Charlottesville. Also about that, humility for my ignorance of the state of racism in the US and my silence in the face of racism that I am aware of throughout my life.

Young friend with cancer and friend’s parents who also have it (several). Cancer, for everyone.

Almighty God, Thank you for getting me through this weekend. I love you. Amen

I am angry and heartsick. Please pray as I work to carve out my role and path in bringing about justice.

Less than two weeks of school! Amen

Please pray for ****, who is having brain surgery this week.

Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me.

Dear Lord, What can we do against such reckless hate? All I can think of is to love more and praise You louder so thank you for the beautiful day, the community here at BSM and for sending me such a wonderful partner to walk life with. Please watch over **** and **** as they leave this space. Amen

Thank you Lord, Thank you Jesus. God of mercy and peace help us as city and as a nation as we struggle day by day all of us, no matter race or creed. Thank you Lord, Thank you Jesus.

Dear God, I’m not sure what you’re up to right now. Could you please show me? I’d like to know what to do next. I know in my bones you will provide for me, but my heart is scared. Take me above the waves – I’m already out there, waiting for you. I love you. Amen

Give me the strength to bear continuous revelation, please. Amen.

I pray that you would help us put our hope in you.

God of justice and peace, In this tumultuous and fearful time, bring peace and love to those who face oppression everyday. Give us strength to name and fight the white supremacy that is at work in this nation. I love you, Amen.
