Last Night at BSM

March 7, 2017

Last night at BSM, we began the season of Lent through the celebration of Ash Wednesday. The BSM church community gathered to sing, meditate, pray, and receive the imposition of ashes, and to hear the words, “in life and in death you belong to God.”

Rev. Michele Ward preached on Matthew 6, and the command Christ gives to live as a people who sacrifice, give, and pray. Jesus cares about the states of the disciples hearts, not just how they behave in the world. And as we enter the season of Lent, Jesus cares about the states of our hearts, too.

Prayers of the gathered community:

Pray for the homeless

Pray for the unemployed

Pray for abused women

I am so thankful for this church!

I pray not to fall apart

Dear God,

Be with my mom preparing for her trial with my dad. Give me a tender heart for two hard anniversaries this month. I love you. Amen.

God—

I am seeking hope and finding hope and yet feeling despair. Help me breathe you in. Remind me that I am—and always have been—yours. Amen.

God,

My prayer is for my sight, my focus, my ability to see what you are up to and to respond faithfully. Bless ****. Bless me. Bless this place. I love you so much. Amen.

Dear Lord,

Grant me the strength to trust you fully, to know that you are watching over myself and those whom I love. Amen.

Please pray for **** and my kids

Thank you God!
