Pre-Release Mail Services

For incarcerated individuals approaching a release date, we offer a pre-release mailing service. More than 3,400 individuals currently use Broad Street Ministry as their mailing address. For individuals signing up to use the pre-release mail service this is unlocking the first step towards obtaining public benefits, ID documents, job searches, case management, housing applications, and staying in touch. Prison social workers and discharge planners are encouraged to use this resource and ensure individuals will have a head start on navigating life after their release.

Civic Engagement Program

Broad Street Ministry’s Reentry team launched a Civic Engagement initiative in the fall of 2020. Individuals impacted by incarceration were trained as seasonal workers to engage our guests and support them in registering to vote and participating in the U.S. Census. Each year we create opportunities for formerly incarcerated Philadelphians to outreach to their peers and our guests to enhance participation and amplify their voices.
