Welcome to the Team: Kris and Laure

Meet the two newest member of the team, Kris Jaeger and Laure Biron:

Kris Jaeger, Senior Director of Development

Broad Street Ministry is excited to welcome Kris Jaeger as their new Senior Director of Development and Marketing. A graduate of University of the Arts and Cranbrook Academy of Art, Kris has over eleven years of experience working in development for Catholic Social Services in residential and day services programs in Philadelphia—serving the homeless and vulnerable members of our community.

Throughout her career, Kris has helped nonprofits strengthen their development and marketing plans, optimize donor and volunteer engagement, and support mission through strategic planning involving fundraising events and social media campaigns. Kris is excited to be joining the BSM team and to be working at Broad and Pine—the true heart of Center City, energized by Broad Street Ministry’s presence, mission, and good work.

Laure Biron, Chief Operating Officer

Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, she returned to the city in 2008 to pursue her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where she met muralists and teaching artists who introduced her to the city’s public art community. While working as a teaching artist and art education administrator at Mural Arts Philadelphia, Laure was most energized by the powerful impact of art on youth who were building a sense of agency and self-efficacy in the classroom. She was inspired, upon graduation from PAFA, to enroll in Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, where she learned how to be responsive to the diverse needs of her students and stakeholders, and how to build on the resilience and gifts they already possessed.

After completing both the MSS degree with a clinical focus and a Masters in Legal and Social Policy at Bryn Mawr, Laure started her own private practice in Center City, Philadelphia and continued to work with Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Restorative Justice and Special Projects departments. In 2014, she became the program director of Mural Arts’ Porch Light department, an ongoing partnership with the City’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services. In this new role, she oversaw the continuation and expansion of Porch Light’s evidence-based model of participatory public art-making, which promotes neighborhood health and productivity. During her five years as director, she oversaw the visioning, strategy, openings, and operations of two new commercial corridor storefronts, in Kensington and Northeast Philadelphia respectively. Both spaces are focused on meeting the needs of vulnerable neighborhood constituencies, layering the arts with social services to promote individual health and neighborhood wellness.

Laure is excited to be a part of the hard-working team at Broad Street Ministry and to take on an extraordinary opportunity to promote person-centered, responsive, flexible and thoughtful ways of improving the whole health of vulnerable folks in Philadelphia.
