Last Night at BSM

October 9, 2017
Last night we gathered to hear from Rev. Samantha Evans as she led us in meditation on Exodus 3:1-15 about a dangerous calling from God where we are challenged to be all in and make a full turn towards loving action in the world.  Listen to the sermon here.

The community offered these prayers to God:

Please pray for my Dad’s job search, and for ****’s test on Wednesday to become an official nurse practitioner.  Please pray that I listen to God’s call and follow even its uncomfortable.

Please pray for me to pass my boards on Wednesday!  Thanks for your positive vibes and prayers.

Oh God, what a week…More senseless loss…more despair…more finger-pointing and blame.  God, convict our hearts, turn them towards repentance and then reconciliation.  Please be present with and give your healing to: ****, ****, ****, ****, ****, and ****.  Give me patience with myself and others as I discern what to do in areas of my life that are lacking in peace.  Help me to be still, to listen to my hesitancy, to be wise and true.  Be with ****, ****, ****, and all touched by ****.  Grant love, comfort, and peace.

Prayers for being less nervous when speaking.

Please be with **** and her family.  Please be with those experiencing homelessness and that we may find a solution.  Please give me patience to deal with those who don’t have the same political outlooks as me.

Dear God, thank you for your love and faithfulness.  May the people I love feel your comfort as we all mourn the various losses we bear.  Give me some Sabbath this week.  Amen.

Prayers of comfort, love, and peace for the **** family…that they be surrounded by God’s presence and the support of the BSM family.

Lord, hear my cry.  Help me be awake to your dangerous invitations and jolt me out of my quiet controlled life.  I don’t really want to pray this because I like my quiet controlled life.  Its chaotic enough already, so I have to schedule it.  But you’re calling me to more.  Help me figure it out.

Almighty God, these last few weeks of waiting feel like torture.  Get me through it.  Use me to bring about your will.  I’ll do what you ask me and go where you tell me.  It is only by your grace and strength that I persist.  I love you.  Amen.
