Last Night at BSM

January 31, 2019

Last night at BSM, Rev. Laura Colee led us in meditating on 1 Kings 22:6-9, 13-14, 17-18 and Mark 11:15-18.  On Prophet Sunday, we explored how prophets speak truth to power, and how the powerful try to silence the prophetic truth tellers of the world.

Listen to the sermon here.

The faith community offered these prayers to God:

Prayers

Prayers for my sister as she receives results from ****.  I pray that I receive job offers from the schools I interviewed with this past week.

I pray that I will let go of fear and self-hatred so that I can just be, and be healthy and happy. (It is kind of hard to do that sometimes.)

Peace, love, and understanding amongst all of the Lord’s children.  Prayers for the time and resources to fulfill my soul’s purpose on earth.  Peace! Thank you.

Pray for Venezuela, and Venezuelan people abroad.

Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Jesus, for Prophet Sunday. Prophets have suffered.  Thank you for exposing us to the 12-13 year old Jeremiah who really didn’t want to be a prophet, but he succeeded.  We pray to be positive and not negative in this world. Thank you, Lord.  Thank you, Jesus.

God, please care deeply for my dad.  He is in such a hard spot—or so it seems to me.  Give me the courage and vision to know how to help him.  Thank you, ****.  Amen.

Prayers for my colleague, ****—to give her strength and fill her heart with love.

Dear God, please give our family your miracle.  Please energize our spirits and our homes.

I give thanks for God’s many blessings, and ask for peace through my anxieties.

Prayers for everyone struggling with addiction and recovery, that they may find and maintain sobriety. Prayers for everyone struggling with loneliness this winter, that they might feel your presence.  Prayers for Palestine.
